EA showed it to the NFL with post-play hits
NFL said take it out
One of the best parts of the NFL Blitz series was the brutal, after-the-whistle tackles. Though EA is resurrecting NFL Blitz in January, late hits are an aspect that isn't coming back with it.
At one point, late hits were in the game, which is in development at Madden studio EA Tiburon. However, the NFL told EA that the feature needed to be cut. Project lead Dave Ross told GamesRadar: They understand that its not a simulation and they understand that its over-the-top, but at the end of the day they really felt like, with the messaging that they have, and with their stance on player health and safety, that it was something that was better left out of the game at this point.
