Sorry, platforming games dropped the concept of having pet simulators more than 10 years ago.

Sorry pal, but I can't see any possible reason for the series to continue having a pet simulator.
That's probably because you have a poor understanding of fun.
Chao Gardens aren't what I'd call the nail in the coffin on determining if a person has a poor understanding of fun.
