Pretty sure a law like this gets pushed more by PACS that are representing the motorcycle companies and less by politicians that are trying to control your lives. If somebody dies using your product it's not really good for business, whether they were being idiots or not doesn't really matter.
Basically, "How can we make motorcycles appear safer so more people will buy them?"
"Force people to wear helmets so that there are less deaths and we can advertise that!"
"GENIUS"
So they give a lot of money to a candidate so that he'll push the law for them.
This topic certainly raises a problem with our government but it isn't the problem that people are addressing.
