I missed a paragraph between post #4 and #5 (the first and second part of the chapter). Here it is:
Leaving the butler behind them, Nio and Genesis opened the door to the living room. The familiar sound of chatters filled the room, overlapping with a faint classical music playing in the background; the room was filled with about a dozen young people, scattered around the room in small groups or alone. Three men were having a very lively conversation around a coffee table. Another man who also sat around the table was quietly reading a magazine, not paying attention to the talk. Next to him was a tramping pack.
