I prefer my superhero movies to have stronger and more independant heroes
I wasn't really bothered by that. I was, however, bothered by just how blatantly Captain America obeys the Smurfette principle

It's not like they went the realistic route and had no women. Nono, they had exactly one, and she exists purely to be "the girl", "the love interest", "the jealous one", "the one putting way too much trust in cap". Oh hey look, now she's having a conversation about how being a girl makes her an outsider.
And that's not the only issue with the movie. Just...yeah, it suffered from being stale and stereotypical in a few ways like this.
