Remember what happened in Gen 3? Remember how that's the most hated generation of the series?
That doesn't mean it was bad.
It came at the awkward stage of the original fanbase's life when they were in middle school and desperate to abandon everything they liked as a child because it was the "cool" thing to do. DPPt recovered because it came out during a time the same fanbase was starting to appreciate nostalgia.
