I always wondered why Nintendo was taking a ton of iPhone heat when that could go for Sony and Microsoft as well.
Nintendo was the one who jumped into that casual fanbase by targeting the Wii to them. Microsoft's and Sony's main focus is towards gamers, while Nintendo's is towards that casual fanbase that Apple now has a stranglehold on.
Like I argued a month or two ago, Nintendo is in the middle of the playing field right now. While playing in the middle worked for the Wii and DS, it's now much harder to succeed there with Smartphones taking most of the casual fanbase, and third parties sticking with Sony/MSoft and therefore keeping the hardcore happy with those consoles.
