In fairness, the point of the episode was that Nicolette had to see that training on her farm wasn't the same as real training, but yes, she was probably awful.

that's how Pikachu learned his coolest move? that is just depressing. i just assumed it had happened in an actual Frontier Battle.
I was surprised too. I knew it would eventually learn volt tackle. What's weirder is that Ash is super excited when he finds out Pikachu knows volt tackle, but Pikachu is just all "Yeah, no biggie."
