eh, people are just ridiculously young in Song of Ice and Fire, just something you have to get around.
Yeah I actually think the ages of the characters on the HBO show (which I've only seen snippets of) is closer to how I personally imagine them.
Martin writes a few of his kids too young -- maybe he just doesn't remember what it's like to be eight years old, or maybe he ascribes to that belief that in the medieval era, "kids weren't kids" as long as they are now.
