Okay seriously how do I work these special stages I have no idea what is going on 90% of the time
It's a rotating maze, at the end of which is a Chaos Emerald. The Chaos Emerald is surrounded by diamonds that you have to hit a few times to destroy so you can get to it. Stay away from the red circles, they make you lose.
The first one you don't have to do anything until you get to the emerald chamber, just letting it spin around you as you fall will get you there.
