The comic, and to a lesser extent the tv show, is more comparable to breaking bad i'd say. There's a constant dread hanging over the characters, the situations are nerve-racking, and there's no "good way" to watch/read it: either you consume it all in one go and feel absolutely terrible, or take it in small doses but have it always looming in the back of your mind.
The show's quality is in no way comparable to breaking bad, but it's still an engaging piece of television. The comic is brilliant up to issue 48 and slows down considerably after.
