Actually it's bad for the consumer, too; trouble is, most consumers are short-sighted like you and not seeing the damage you're doing to the industry or thinking of the bad that will come of it.
If publishers do adopt a more digital-friendly format where every game is offered for download, I'd be cool with that so long as they offer price reductions for those gamers who wait to purchase. As it stands right now, I can often get a $60 game for like $20 a year after release, and it's usually still in new condition on Amazon. If publishers can match that via digital distribution, I'd support it despite missing physical copies.


That is a responsibility of the publisher, and I agree that more should. But that's after a year; when people can go buy a game slightly cheaper that has been out for only a few weeks, and the developer gets none of the profits, there is a significant problem, regardless of game content.
