yeah because judging a game by the first few hours is totally legit
that's like playing ffx and only reaching the first blitzball tournament
Well... it is a media's responsibility to be engaging from the start or it will lose a lot of followers from the get go. People (especially the stereotypical American) can be prone to short attention spans, and if a game doesn't grab you from the get go, it's probably already started off on the wrong foot. I despised FFX due to it's terrible pacing. Finally forced myself to finish the game a few years ago simply because I wanted to make sure I never left a FF game unfinished. 10 and 8 are the only two FF games I've had to force myself to finish*.
*I literally had my wife lock all the rest of my games, and any new ones I bought, in her safe at work until I beat both of them.
That said, I didn't find anything wrong with the first 2 and half hours of UC2 myself.
