The 18 year is fine for this situation. The 25 year malt's bump in quality isn't worth the extra money. It's not even crazy for people to straight prefer the 18 to the 25.
Also Glenfiddich has a 21 year in that same price range that's pretty stellar. Super smooth, and light, the kind of scotch you can give to a non scotch drinker and they'll enjoy it.
