FE7 character development blows. "Stand next to a unit for ~40 turns for a support convo 3x" is an idiotic gameplay mechanic.

By your own admission, it's not the character development that blows, but rather the support conversation gameplay mechanic. It's an interesting system that has its pros and cons, but it was arguably handled better in FE8/9/10.

Delita (and Wiegraf, possibly) may be more developed than any one FE7 character, but FE7's are more developed on the whole. I also find character development overrated anyway-- FE7's characters are just more entertaining.

This. FFT has higher character "peaks," but FE7 has a much, much better cast all-around.

FE7 is more of a Jane Austen novel. The characters are exaggerated stereotypes done right, there's lots of humor, and everyone gets married. FFT is more Hamlet; it focuses on a few tragic characters, humor is absent, and everybody dies.

If someone said they liked the plot of FE7, I'd look at them sideways. "Stop the pure-evil Nergal??" If someone said they loved the chemistry between the characters in FFT, I'd look at them sideways. The PCs don't get any more lines after they join you. Ramza/Delita/Algus/Miluda have some interesting chemistry but it's mostly in Chapter 1. Ramza/Alma have an amazing scene in Chapter 3. But those are the only scenes that jump out at me. (Delita/Ovelia scenes are interesting, but partially because we doubt Delita's sincerity).

This is remarkably well-put. Saved.
