Daigo isn't great at Marvel like he is at SF4 -- not even close. Sometimes he needs a miracle just to beat a mid-tier player. Even so, beating Daigo on stream with 32000 people watching is pretty much the most important day of this dude's life.
Daigo needs to win this match or he's out of the tournament. It's his three guys vs. a Dark Phoenix. showstopper tears through Wolverine and Dante, leaving Daigo without much of a chance.
X-factor. Random super. Game. That's Marvel, baby.
showstopper loses his **** and starts storming around the stage. He launches his stick while Daigo is just sitting there. The camera only catches it for a second, but Daigo has this huge grin on his face. It's a perfect "u mad?" face.
This kind of thing could only happen when a guy chokes against one of the all-time greats. You don't get this kind of reaction if it was some random dude. It doesn't even matter that Daigo's only so-so at Marvel. This is Daigo Umehara.
This moment is made even better by the fact that it was Dark Phoenix being owned. I think Daigo got perfected by someone else to get sent home, but his Marvel run will be memorable for this alone.
