One thing I will say about the last episode though, Teal'c going "What is an Oprah?" was worth a chuckle :p

Episode 5: The Broca Divide

I like how they are still a bit hesitant at the gate. It is still pretty new to them and there is a certain amount of awe it commands. Later on it becomes so routine like riding a bike and it is nice to see some training wheels still in place so to speak.

A world of light and dark...wouldn't there be many many miles of twilight between the...right, right, tv show, carry on.

Minoan culture. Neat. Not much known about that culture iirc, it is nice to see representation that is not just stereotypical ancient empires.

...even if it is just for a minute. Welp.

Good thing this episode is taking place in 1997ish so that a president that appreciates science and culture would be in office (zing?)

I was kinda hoping this wasn't the episode O'Niell went caveman (I seem to remember a bajillion 'last time on sg-1' bits calling back to this), but tbh, the setup for this outbreak hasn't really been so bad.

Aaand hello Carter in a tanktop. The secret aim of the writers was to confuse everyone on the issue of woman rights. Should they be submissive? Aggressive? Who knows what zany thing carter will do next?!

First appearance of that doc lady too.

If you want to get technical, the notion of a virus from another world affecting someone from earth is slightly improbable as viruses are sorta tuned to the alien environments they are in. However, equally technically, humans are everywhere in this galaxy so said environments are hardly alien; flora and fauna all seem suspiciously canadian too >_>. Really, everyone going through the stargate should all have died of plagues long ago.

"It seems to mess with body chemicals...all of them." All the body chemicals....all of them.

Teal'c gets to play one man hero while everyone else decides to become cavemen.

I am unsure why he even needed the blood sample though as it should have been obvious enough to doctor lady that she and Jackson had allergies and that as she already said, this thing did stuff to histamine. I guess it never hurts to have confirming evidence though...

Puppies and sunshine and spoilers: The good guys win.

I've never been a huge fan of plagues, but this episode treats the concept well, though there are a lot of questionable things one can nitpick like how an allergy prone doctor could handle the plague herself when everyone else was going nuts. It would only take one crazy to get in a lucky tackle and well...no plot cure for the base. Good thing main character disease has infected most of the base too eh?

And that is me done for the night. Plenty more gate fun to come...
