Universe was...well...it um...got a bit better towards the end? Most of it was trying to be like battlestar galactica and kinda dumbed down a lot of things and there was barely any gate action at all. Really, most of the good bits involved characters from the other series. It had its moments, but...not enough.

Atlantis was alright though, as Jeff said, it never quite captured what SG-1 had, but still watchable and still stargate.

Children of the Gods Part 1 and 2 Boobie Edition

This has an overall cinematic feel to it, though there are plenty of things that feel out of place. Like Hammond being such a hardass.

Daniel: 'pretty please let me go save my waifu!'
Hammond: 'YOU ARE IN NO POSITION TO MAKE DEMANDS!'

And the silly ticking clock that was self imposed. A day to complete their mission or else iris is closed forever and transmitter codes will no longer work. Sure, it adds tension but just...idk...seems a bit overkill. I know I wouldn't perform at my best with that layer of stress placed on me. "Hey, we're gonna toss you into an unknown situation on an alien world with minimal backup...BUT DON'T WORRY YOU ONLY HAVE EXACTLY ONE DAY OR ELSE YOU WILL NEVER SEE HOME AGAIN...BETTER HURRY!". Pretty sure this was relaxed some in the rest of the show, or at least downplayed.

A few other things nag at me too, like Teal'c suddenly knowing english and his turning being so abrupt. The dude sees a watch and suddenly his entire life was a lie. Pretty sure I remember them elaborating on his motives down the line though. And howabout that attack ship approaching the group from behind when they were heading towards the gate and it was just there a moment ago. And guns suddenly being able to stop the jaffa warriors. If only they had put their silly head things up they would have been invincible...

I could nitpick this thing all day, but I'll hold off until I see what they do with the remakeing of this. I know a lot of things were altered down the line in the series out of convenience like the language barrier and being thrown out of the gate. Ah wells, on to the movie that was referenced a dozen times in these episodes...
