So, I got in the mood to revisit the stargate series. Considering that it is widely thought of as a top tier sci-fi show, this is unsurprising. Most of you here should know about this show already, hello Jeff, but just in case you are a drunk hobo who broke into a library that still had a computer on that happened to have B8 on the screen and you saw Stargate and mistook it for Seagrams, let me briefly summarize the show:
There are these things called stargates. They are like these gates that lead to...the stars. People do stuff with them.
Simple, no?
Also explosions. Tons of explosions. And wormholes. And aliens. And golf.
I will be updating this topic as I watch through this series again and probably bore you all to tears with banal insights and lukewarm commentary, but at least you can have fun discussing your favorite episodes or ranking characters or whatever it is the hip kids do these days.
First up will be...Children of the Gods part 1 and 2.
Or should it be the movie? It has definitely been ages since I have seen the movie and while a lot of it was tweaked, it is still technically the actual beginning...
Spoilers: I watched the opening to Children of the Gods and could barely stifle my laughter at how silly the goa'uld headpieces looked. Why yes, let us don vision obscuring headpieces that will surely strike terror into our foes as we blindly fire our already inaccurate weaponry in the vague direction of the enemy! Brilliant.
...
admittedly, if an alien wore that while chasing me down, I would probably be a bit scared as it DOES eliminate head blows too, even if it is comical. I can see why they phased these things out later on.
