Joe Johnson's usage rate was much, much, much lower in Phoenix (19.0%) than even his lowest year in Atlanta (24.6%).

Phoenix Johnson was much different than Atlanta Johnson. Phoenix JJ never averaged more than 14 shots per 36 minutes, whereas Atlanta JJ never averaged less that 15 shots per 36 (including 5 seasons of at least 16 shots per 36).

If their plan is to make Nash another spot-up shooter to Kobe's ball domination, it's not going to work. Plain and simple, Kobe is going to have to defer more and have his usage rate go down. If he doesn't, if he still needs to dominate the ball like crazy then Lakers are another 2nd round exit.
