How much circlejerking you perceive is inversely proportional to how much influence you have on the community.
Take Metal_DK for instance. No one knows who he is, so he perceives this as an evidence for circlejerk rather than thinking "well maybe if I posted more stuff people cared about I'd be noticed." It's a defensive mechanism. Why blame yourself when you can blame society.
Fact is eventually the more interesting stuff you post people start to like you if you're not an idiot. Then they pay more attention to the stuff you say later and, shock, don't want to offend you as much if they don't have to?
That's not circlejerk, that's just how relationships work. I'm not saying B8 doesn't have any circlejerk going on-- that's what UotY is after all (and I do pretty well in UotY so don't call me on pot/kettle here). But for the most part it's not anymore a circlejerk than you can expect given natural human interaction.
