Vita isn't oriented any particular way. If anything, the features they've talked about so far are more Japanese-centric -- the stuff like Near and being able to see what people around you are playing. It does look like the best bridge between portable and console that has ever come out, though. It'll be huge in Japan, and if Sony plays their cards right, which they have so far, it should be big in the West, too.
even though the jrpg developers have signed on with the vita, and the vita claims to have lower production costs for the system than the current gen consoles (which it probably will), im still worried that jrpgs wont be very noticeable on the vita. This gen had tons of great jrpgs on the ds/psp, but i felt it was moreso becuase jrpgs were relegated to handhelds. Forcing a genre to be relegated to one area of gaming is one step closer to its demise.
I also question how good the vita will be in platformers and adventure games along the mold of jak and daxter. Well see. The vita looks promising, but current gaming trends could overtrump it.
