Rope wasn't shot in one take because film cartridges only had ten minutes of film on them. And only half of the takes were disguised in those close-ups, the other half were standard camera cuts because a reel of film played at a theater is only twenty minutes long, and the reel switches would've been noticeable even if they disguised the take switches.
