Pornography is the basic root behind all of this, as it is the ultimate objectification of women. As long as pornography is around (forever), its influence is going to leak into other mediums.
And Cyclo, as for what you said earlier, about action heroes being idealized men... For a lot of women (read not feminists), the sexualized woman is how they idealize themselves. They wish they could be just like the submissive sexual gorgeous woman, because that woman exemplifies natural female traits.
