for an actual serious answer, I think the sexualized women are obviously aimed at men. so if women are like "we want to play video games too" that's cool and they should support games that don't portray them negatively.
for me the better comparison is romance novels. hyper sexualized men in those. it's probably sexist (or would be if anyone cared) but men don't read romance novels.
I don't actually know but I'm guessing most VG players are males? probably a young demographic too. so they're appealing to their audience.
