This album is excellent front to back. The whole time I feel like I'm trapped in this demented, haunted carnival ride where the main attraction is this barker that combines the lyrical storytelling of a Bob Dylan with the psychobilly of The Cramps, the fearless experimentation of The Residents, and the tribal horror ambience of Aphex Twin all wrapped up in a Lynchian fever dream. And yet, all those descriptors don't quite do Waits justice because he's in a league truly all his own. --- I've decided to put my fears behind me.
