All dried beans need to be boil, or cold soaked for a long period, before they can be eaten. Not surprised you didn't know.

Also refried is a misnomer, since while they are heated and mashed in hot oil, they aren't actual fried once or even refried for that matter.

Hummus and refried beans are just hot and cold versions of mashed or blended beans mixed with oil and seasonings.
