It can be distracting seeing someone moving out of the corner of you eye when trying to line up your shot (and you never know how much that person "cares"). In reality, it is a mechanism left over from when the automatic pin setters where crap and would lock up if both lanes cleared at the same time. It probably doesn't matter anymore, but it is still polite. --- After 16 years, I have decided my signature will NOT be about my job!
