I always wondered about that. If you decapitate an immortal, do you get zapped by the quickening, abd become an immortal too? Do you get zapped by incompatible quickening and die? Nothing happens, and you continue as normal?

Not sure.

I understand it as some are born with the gene to become immortal.

Like the Richie character.

They have to be killed or die from a accident when it kicks in.

That's why you see them at different age's.

If not they simply grow old and die like everyone else.

Also The Source made it sound like the "there can be only one" thing meant that only one can claim the prize but not fight down to the last.

Also they apparently lose their immortality as they got closer to the source.

One messed up okie doke movie.
