I tried for a long time to face-tank bosses. it wasn't until I tried doing the speedrun challenge and the pantheons that I was really like "wait, there's a better way to do this?" hollow knight rewards strategic interaction with the bosses. focus first on learning how to avoid their attacks, then try getting attacks in when you have the opportunity. generally you want to stay close to them; it makes it easier to get your attacks in Yeah I kinda had to really find a zen moment to just be patient and not let myself get too frustrated and I finally got through them but idk if I want to keep playing.
