I agree. Almost always scenarios such as these are because people forcibly resisted arrest and created a hostile environment. When the police make a decision to arrest someone and put the cuffs on them, that's the end of the story. They're going to jail. There's no negotiating after that, they've made their decision and if someone tries to fight them, bad things are probably going to happen. I never understood the whole, "That person could have been me". I always want to reply, "Do you plan on resisting arrest, too?"

Not resisting is not a guarantee of survival of an interaction with the cops. People die in custody all the time, people get shot while complying. Stop acting as if it does.
