Coronavirus has never really worked that way. IIRC from immunology class in med school the whole family is pretty good about evading the immune system over time.

Versus, say, flu. You get the flu and get exposed a second time and you don't get sick. Those antibodies last forever, or nearly that long (getting sick another year is due to a different strain).

Corona less to last maybe 6-8 months. After that you can get sick again like you never had it. What's different with Omicron is that it doesn't even care about a previous delta infection, it'll hit like you never had it.
