I'm 35 and have never used a credit card

I only spend money that I actually have

i almost exclusively purchase things with a CC and have done so for ~20 years and i, too, don't spend money i don't have. i just watch my balance and know how much i have coming in the next paycheck (salaried employee). i've never paid a cent in interest fees.

in addition to rewards (ie cash back) you get added consumer protection when buying with a CC. it's much easier to reverse a charge you haven't paid for yet than it is to get money put back into your back account (ie spending with debit / check). you also get a whole bunch of consumer protections with credit cards you never see if you use debit.
