Or whatever.

I'm not trying to sugar coat it necessarily. We are all going to die. But "dies" sounds like we accomplished everything possible in life but ultimately failed.

There is no winning score for anyone at the end. The headline is never "Stan Lee lived a long amazing life and has now passed on"

Instead its

Stan Lee dies at 75
Ann Rice dies.
Neil Armstrong Dies
(Insert name here) Dies.

It's just a shitty way to have a headline. All it is is a scoreboard of deaths. No celebration of their long and full lives. Even if you live a long, full good life you still "lose" at the end. Its not disrespectful and it's just factual but it's so shitty.

It's like saying "Well. They lost." in a game where nobody can ever "win."
