His brakes failed for whatever reason and the major detail is he didnt take the runaway truck ramp on that stretch of road to avoid an accident and slammed into stopped traffic going 85mph where the speed limit was 45. He got charged with a ton of stuff since 27 cars were involved in the accident and theres a law that requires truck drivers to serve consecutive sentences instead of concurrent sentences in major accidents like that.
