I think I mentioned it above but if you watch the post show stuff that's directly after the credits one of the creators/writers or whoever mentioned it's heavily implied. So yeah I guess it isn't really confirmed if they could retcon it next season if they want. Edit: Although now that I'm looking to screen grab it I can't find it. I swear it was directly after the episode there was a couple minute short video about inside the episode.
