Yuna's opinion on your plan: What really sells this is Yuna's expressionless face as she says it. She just stares blankly into the camera and says the line as bluntly and emotionlessly as possible. This is unironically the best moment in FFX-2.
Squall: Squall is destined to be the second most famous FF protagonist forever. He cannot escape this fate. His game was directly after Cloud's, they both are set in modern eras (where Squall's is cleaner and Cloud's is grimier), and they're both downbeat swordsmen. Squall is actually quite a bit more dignified, there's never a crossdressing or spa scene with him, but he's also a little less interesting. I can imagine Cloud without his romantic subplot, but I cannot imagine Squall without his. The story of a cynical jerk learning to open up because of a girl is time-tested.
