This guy might be an okay character designer, but he clearly has no idea how to write. I was doing some subquest and didn't look up the date, and had to do it on "no physical attacks" day. So, I did my best and cleared out the minions with magic, but I just didn't have enough resources to kill the boss, who kept physically attacking me and getting red carded, but that has no effect on bosses. Eventually, I had to reset. That moment made me stop playing FFTA, and I only picked it back up like fifteen years later.
