I mean, I keep complaining about what others think! And with Captain Marvel, while I'm sure the board will see this coming a mile away I was genuinely excited about the movie for its premise and cast (Samuel L. Jackson is one of my top 5 favorite actors, and I've been a fan of Jude Law ever since watching A.I.), so I would have been disappointed in it had I not heard so much smack talk about it ahead of time. Maybe watching Chris Stuckmann's average review of the film before watching it didn't help (he gave it a C). And yeah I am more than a little obsessed with how some people act like Brie Larson hijacked the movie for the sake of her feminist agenda when there's no goddamn evidence for it whatsoever, especially considering the film has probably the most non-threatening and mass-market friendly feminist message possible and yet still gets criticism over it. Then again I shouldn't be surprised at anti-progressives complaining about anything progressive, but it still boggles my mind.

I'm also just all-around enamored with the casting of the MCU and feel like there hasn't been a major misstep so far on that front. I especially enjoy seeing an actor I like from elsewhere appear in the MCU, like William Hurt's cameo in Infinity War bringing back fond memories of A.I. and A History of Violence. And yes I was kind of disappointed when Hurt's much-advertised role in Black Widow amounted to near-nothing.

keep preaching
