Lol Ive done worse so many times because management is shitty. At least one of them has failed and shut down entirely. I dont find it hard to understand why at all.

I think the idea is that a lot of people will gladly sit at home if they have just enough to survive as opposed to actually working a job that would net them a fair amount more income. Not everyone is like that but some folks are

If I made triple what income assistance paid, I would definitely work. If I made only double what it paid, I would just take the loss if it was feasible to do and ride it out. Not going to bust my bag for only double what I can get for doing nothing.

I'm not surprised. Employee's (everywhere) get treated like garbage constantly. Management frequently belittles them and acts abusively towards them, customers mock and belittle them while hiding behind 'the customer is always right', and things like long work hours, miserable conditions, and soul-sucking office cubicles are so 'normal' we are surprised when a job DOESN'T do that. All for pay that never seems to be enough and you're saddled with massive amounts of bills, debt, and struggle to afford a car and rent (nevermind owning a house) while the upper management (who frequently just make life more difficult) seem to make off like bandits.

No wonder no one wants to work anymore. If you're gonna drown in debt and be unable to live a decent life may as well relax and get what little joy you can instead of working miserably only to stave it off a bit.
