I saw a comment that Eternals is basically "if Marvel made a bad DC movie" and after seeing it that is definitely the best one sentence explanation of it.

The jokes are flat. The characterization is bad. The characters are all immortal gods and humans are a total afterthought. Everything important is just explained at length through long boring dialogue rather than shown.

I laughed exactly three times in the whole movie: the man getting eaten 5 minutes in, a "domo arigato" joke I made to my wife, and when one of the Eternals gets hit in the head with a rock. Nothing any character said at any point made me even chuckle slightly.

I considered walking out a little more than an hour in but just slogged it out because I was tired. Eternals is absolutely a bad movie. I could imagine some people out there finding something of value in watching it but it's telling that most of the "Fresh" reviews on Rotten Tomatoes start off with "It's not great but it's not as bad as everyone is saying. Come onnn"
