In all seriousness, smelling/tasting foul odors that aren't there is a condition called phantosmia. It can sometimes be an indicator of an underlying serious condition, so I would suggest getting an appointment with an ENT to have it checked out.

What you're thinking of is called an olfactory hallucination -- it's smelling something that isn't there. It occurs when a person isn't smelling or tasting any food or drink. It just happens randomly.
It certainly isn't what I experienced. I just didn't like the taste of apple cider...

If I went to a doctor saying what you did I'd sound like a hypochondriac.
