There was a moment of opportunity around 2016 for socialists like Bernie to win, because a lot of the country was suffering economically at that point and people were waking up to the reality that 35 years of Reaganomics from both parties had hurt, not helped, them. But the economy has been great recently. People feel comfortable enough to quit their jobs. People have money again, which they are afraid of losing if the socialists get into power.
