Perhaps I am overstating. Because I am pro workers rights and so the mechanisms that support that are something that I'd defend. So if the employee was only doing things in the appropriate manner I'd be obligated to defend it.

Honestly though, I very much get the vibe that this employee is trying to be disruptive, which I don't think would be protected.

If what they did was completely legit, I guess I don't understand what's preventing 3 people from wanting to take a vacation so they "strike" for 2 weeks and then just come back to work and expect to be protected from firing.

So I'd be interested in learning more, and then I might revise my stance.
