They couldnt have dogs that attacked every person they saw. They needed them to attack other dogs. You think dog fighters treat their dogs like pets or something until they go into a ring? They're muzzled, tied, fed through cages, forcibly restrained, and generally kept in awful environments. They don't get walked. They don't get to see the sun. And the history of the breed as a something specifically designed for fighting is well documented.
