American work culture kind of beat into you that you have to stay in line and run the company line but these days younger people have a more fuck it attitude, which in some cases can be bad but in this instance its helping make positive change. We work for you. You dont own us. Nah it really used to be about loyalty. Jobs used to have things like seniority and pensions that got better with time spent in one place and now all that is gone. Being fired used to be a really big deal because you'd have to start all over.
