I know why people say this, but it's not true. The show straight-up skipped huge portions of the last two books and that directly fucked up a lot of characters.

I feel like Ive explained this to Gob before. But yeah, youre right, people are completely wrong about that. Not to mention the sample chapters for Winds have been around for years.

From what Ive gathered, D+D were really into the political stuff up until The Red Wedding. That event specifically is what their hearts most wanted to cover. Then they became bored afterward and never had much interest in the weirder stuff that starts to happen in the later books.

So, regardless of how much source material was left, the honorable thing would have been for them to step down and let someone who cared take the reins.
