First some info and a layout...

This is a crude MS Paint drawing of my area. My house is kind of centered. It's a small two story house where the first floor is an apartment that I rent out and is currently occupied by an early 20's dude and his girlfriend. I live in the upstairs which can only be accessed by the stairs on the left side of the house which goes up to the deck and the entry to my apartment.

September 28th at 8:45 PM my neighbor (observant neighbor) comes up my steps and knocks on my door. He tells me that a few minutes earlier his wife, who was outside smoking a cigarette, saw some guy walking around my house and looking in my windows. He tells me he knows I have a video camera so I should probably check it out. I pull up this footage from 8:38 PM (7 minutes earlier.)

It appears he is just walking along the little sidewalk (which is actually NOT a public sidewalk) and looking in the window (into the downstairs, they have blinds that were shut) before sitting down on my deck step for a few seconds. He then gets up and leaves. Neighbors wife thinks she made a noise and it scared him off but who knows. Kind of weird, but I live 2 blocks from a bar so i'm not terribly concerned. I chalk it up to a drunk dude.

The next day, September 29, I kind of forgot about it. I check my camera footage to make sure he didn't come back again the previous night and he didn't. The day comes to an end, I crawl into bed around 11:30 and I am asleep by 12:30.

September 30 I'm trying to kill 20 minutes until I leave work to head home. I decide to check my camera footage from the previous night (September 29th, the day AFTER the first night he came.) I find two pieces of captured footage.

At 12:07 AM (September 29/September 30) it captures this:

That APPEARS to be the exact same dude in the same clothes coming out from under the deck and walking up the stairs to my apartment. I'm not sure where he came from. Where he was coming from is a little window that looks into the downstairs apartment so maybe he was peeping into there. The only items I have on my deck currently are a grill and an old Adirondack chair. There's nothing to steal.

At 12:31 AM the camera captures this:

The dude is walking down my deck stairs. He was up there for 24 minutes. I have absolutely no clue what he was doing. There's two windows up on the deck that look inside to my apartment. One has a blind on it so you can't see through the living room into my bedroom. The other is just a tiny little window that lets you look into my kitchen.

So, last night I get my handgun and make sure it's nearby. I sleep on the couch in the living room to make sure I can hear the door handle if he's trying to break in or something. Camera didn't capture anything overnight.

End Story

So yeah, this is fucking weird. I'm willing to let it go once, like I said I live near a bar and it wouldn't be that big of a shock if I find a drunk dude wandering around late at night because he's too drunk. I don't like it, but it's expected kind of. Two nights in a row? Nah, that's on purpose. This dude has to be casing the place.

I've been debating if I should call a non-emergency police number and let them know about a prowler. We don't have town cops (it's a small tiny ass redneck town) so it would have to be the state police that did anything. Realistically all they could do is drive by once a night and that's about it.
