I don't know how it works down in the states, but the Canadian Prime Minister election process is such a fucking ridiculous process. Lets assume I wanted to vote Jagmeet Singh in. He's running the NDP or New Democratic Party. I can't just go into a polling station and vote for Jagmeet Singh, I have to vote for the NDP elective in my area. So if for example, Jon Smith was running for the PC party in my area and I have a great relationship with him, I have to ignore that and vote for Sally Smith who I might hate, all because she is part of the NDP; and that's how the voting gets tallied.
