Since you seem to genuinely not understand, establishing a safe space for LGBTQ people means establishing a space where they can trust nobody's going to give them a hard time for being LGBTQ. That's all. There are no special privileges, just an acknowledgement that the world outside that classroom often sucks and that they might be facing such harassment elsewhere, and a commitment to making sure the classroom is better than that. I don't know how you get "special protections" from a philosophy of inclusivity and acceptance, but nothing about this suggests that. --- This is my signature.
